Bible-based - By saying that we are a Bible-based church, we mean that we believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, infallible word of God, our final authority for faith and practice.  Sermons and teaching are from the Scriptures.  Scripture guides our understanding and our actions in every area of congregational life.  Our doctrines are Bible-based.  Our worship is Bible-based.  Our hymns are Bible-based.  So is our church government/organization, our youth ministry, our children's ministry, and everything else to which Scripture speaks.

God-centered - By saying that we are a God-centered church, we mean that our church doesn't revolve around us--not around the pastor, not around the youth, not around baby-boomers, postmoderns, or any other group.  Providence exists for God.  We center our worship around the Triune God.  Our worship is intended more to please Him than to please the worshipers.  We try to encourage one another to live lives that are God-centered.  We take seriously the statement of the Westminster Shorter Catechism that, "Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever."

Reformed - By saying that we are a Reformed church, we are speaking about our theological position.  It's the position associated with John Calvin and the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.   We understand the Reformed faith as a living faith that focuses on giving God all the glory.  The whole view is unfolded in the Westminster Standards which express the doctrinal commitments of Providence. At Providence, we welcome people who don't agree with our doctrinal position on every issue.  Such agreement, while required of officers, is not necessary for membership.
